Design work completed for Strategic Power Building with Communities course! Course launches this spring @MandelSchool
Happy to report that all course design work and filming has been completed for a new, masters-level online course at @MandelSchool—Strategic Power Building with Communities! The course presents frameworks for power and strategy and guides students through various models and methods for building power from the ground up. The course features many interviews with those building power in communities addressing issues of health, safety, freedom and justice. Thanks to all the organizations who participated, including the ACLU Ohio, Coalition for for Humane Immigration Rights LA (CHIRLA), CareForce, Community Change, Co-op Cincy, Flint Rising, Housing Louisiana, the Institute for Development Studies, Metro IAF, Moms Demand Action, Movement Generation, Parents for Healthy Homes, Residents Organized for Change (ROC) Oregon, and more. Thanks also to the team of actors who helped stage a six role play sessions for our “Parents United” case study. Students will research various organizing efforts and social movements and work in groups to design a power building campaign of their own. Looking forward to the launch of the course in Spring 2021!
