Honored to Receive Teaching Award Thanks to Amazing Students
I'm proud to announce that I've been honored with the John A. Yankey Outstanding Part-time Instructor of the Year Award from the Mandel School! This recognition is especially meaningful because it's based on student feedback.
The most rewarding aspect of teaching is fostering a classroom environment where open dialogue and diverse perspectives are not only valued but actively encouraged. I believe in creating a space where students feel comfortable exploring complex social work issues and where respectful communication is paramount, even amidst differing viewpoints.
My approach prioritizes active listening and fostering critical thinking skills. It's about guiding students to refine their own ideas while remaining mindful of the impact words and actions can have. This award is a testament to the incredible students I've had the privilege of working with. Their dedication to social justice and their willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue is quite inspiring.
