National Coalition for the Homeless adopts new strategic plan
On Saturday, March 29, 2023, the membership of the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) ratified a new strategic plan. Clifford Consulting has spent the past year working closely with NCH board and staff to reflect and plan for ways to become more focused and strategic in the fight for justice and human rights for people experiencing homelessness. During this process, the NCH revised and confirmed its mission, identified six strategic goal areas, and described detailed strategies, measures, and timelines for accomplishing their goals.
NCH’s revised and simplified mission is as follows: To prevent and end homelessness in collaboration with people who have lived experience. To accomplish this mission, we worked together to develop a list of seven principles that describe their commitments to their vision, to the involvement of those with lived experience, to systemic change and consciousness raising, and their commitment to fighting for human and civil rights with an anti-racist intersectional lens
The six NCH goals are organized into three overarching goals to build power, change policy, and strengthen our organization. First, NCH is working to build power to defend human rights with partners and share our knowledge and experience locally. Second, NCH is writing and passing federal legislation, building and engaging our membership to work on the Federal level. Finally, NCH is working to strengthen our organization to boost internal clarity and inclusion and to grow revenue and resources.
It’s been a pleasure to work with their organization to incorporate all voices, engage in challenging conversations, and recommit to the work necessary to achieve housing justice for all.
