Successful capital grants translate to new site for Joseph House

News is out that Joseph House is fixing to move!

When Joseph House was founded in 1994, Over-the-Rhine was a different neighborhood. The older, historic buildings provided inexpensive (but often challenging) opportunities to create facilities to meet the urgent need to respond to veterans experiencing homelessness. Fast forward to 2022. Joseph House’s neighborhood is now rapidly developing. They are surrounded by condos that sell for millions of dollars. This economic development, has caused major operational and financial challenges for Joseph House. It has also limited their ability to renovate within their current footprint. For the past several years, they have contemplated various strategies to relocate. Over the last eight months, Clifford Consulting has worked with Joseph House to secure two large capital grants from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV)—kick starting a major capital drive. More grants are pending for the $8.4 million project.

The proposed, new facility allows Joseph House to retool and reorganize for the future based on the needs of current needs of veterans, including serving female veterans for the first time and expanding service to veterans with disabilities.
